Currency Converter
Convert any amount between 30 major currencies using daily European Central Bank reference rates. See the rate, its inverse, the rate date and your amount in six popular currencies at once.
What the currency converter does
Enter an amount, choose the currency you have and the currency you want, and the converter returns the result together with the exchange rate, the inverse rate and the date the rate was published. A second card shows the same amount in six popular currencies so you can compare quotes from different suppliers or clients without running the conversion several times. The swap button flips the direction instantly.
Rates come from the European Central Bank's daily reference rates, which cover 30 widely traded currencies including the US dollar, euro, pound, yen, Swiss franc, Australian and Canadian dollars, and major Asian and emerging market currencies. Rates are refreshed once a day on business days and cached for a short period on our side to keep the tool fast.
How to use it
- Type the amount you want to convert. Commas and spaces are fine.
- Pick the source currency in From and the target currency in To. Each option shows the three-letter code and the full name.
- Click Convert. Use the swap button to reverse the direction, and the result updates automatically.
- Check the rate date beneath the result. Reference rates are set once per business day, so a Monday morning quote uses Friday's rate.
You can also link straight to a conversion by adding from, to and amount to the page address, which is handy for saving a quote or sharing a rate with a colleague.
Why it matters
If you sell to customers abroad, pay overseas freelancers or buy software priced in another currency, small rate differences add up across a year. Reference rates give you a neutral benchmark. Compare them with what your bank, card or payment processor actually charges and the gap is their spread, which is often between one and four percent. Knowing that number helps you choose the cheapest way to move money and to price international work fairly.
For businesses that invoice in more than one currency, this converter pairs well with our invoice generator and the ecommerce fee calculator, which shows how gateway fees and currency conversion eat into each order. If you are building a store that sells internationally, our ecommerce websites handle multi-currency pricing and local payment methods properly.
- 30 currencies from an official, neutral source.
- Rate, inverse rate and publication date shown clearly.
- Six popular currencies side by side for quick comparison.
