Unit Converter
Convert length, weight, temperature, area, volume, data size, speed and time between metric, imperial and US units, with a full table of every unit at once.
Type in either box. Results are rounded to 6 significant digits.
What the unit converter does
This converter handles the eight categories people reach for most: length, weight and mass, temperature, area, volume, data size, speed and time. Pick a category, type a value in either box, and the other box updates instantly. Below the inputs you get a table showing the same value in every unit of that category, so you can compare at a glance instead of running several conversions.
Results are rounded to six significant digits, which is precise enough for engineering, cooking, shipping and everyday use while keeping the numbers readable. Everything is calculated in your browser, so it works offline once the page has loaded.
How to use it
- Choose a category such as Length or Data size.
- Select the unit you are converting from and the unit you want.
- Type a number in the From box, or type in the To box to convert in the other direction.
- Use the swap button to flip the two units.
- Read the table to see the value in all the other units.
Notes on the units
Data size includes both decimal units (KB, MB, GB, TB, based on 1000) and binary units (KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB, based on 1024). Storage manufacturers use decimal units, while operating systems often report binary ones, which is why a 1 TB drive shows up as about 931 GiB. Bits are included for bandwidth calculations.
Volume uses US customary cups, pints, quarts and gallons, and also includes the imperial gallon since it differs by about twenty percent. Weight includes stones and US tons alongside metric units. Time treats a month as 30 days and a year as 365 days for simple estimates. Temperature converts between Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin using exact formulas rather than a fixed factor.
Why accurate conversion matters
Small conversion errors compound quickly. A shipping quote in the wrong weight unit, a recipe scaled in the wrong volume unit, or a server plan compared in GB against GiB can all lead to expensive surprises. Having every unit visible in one table makes those mistakes easy to catch. If you are comparing hosting plans by storage, our hosting plan finder can help you pick the right size, and for money conversions use the currency converter.
