What this tool does

The password generator builds cryptographically random passwords using your device, not a remote server. You control the length from 6 up to 64 characters and decide which character sets to include: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and symbols. There is also an option to exclude look-alike characters such as the letter O and the number 0, or the lowercase l and the number 1, which makes a password far easier to read and type by hand.

How to use it

Pick a length with the slider or input field, then toggle the character sets you want. Turn on the option to exclude look-alike characters if the password will be read aloud or typed manually. A fresh password appears instantly, and you can generate another as many times as you like. When you are happy with the result, copy it with one click and paste it into your password manager or signup form.

  • Set the length between 6 and 64 characters
  • Mix uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols
  • Exclude ambiguous characters for easier reading
  • Regenerate until you get one you like, then copy it

Why it matters

Weak and reused passwords are still one of the most common causes of account breaches. A long password drawn from a wide range of characters is dramatically harder to guess or crack by brute force than a short word with a number tacked on the end. Because this tool runs entirely in your browser and never transmits anything over the network, the password you create is seen by no one but you. For the strongest protection, use a unique generated password for every account and store them in a reputable password manager. This free tool is provided by Digzy Technology, a software studio in Bali, Indonesia that builds websites, stores and apps.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are the passwords really generated in my browser?
Yes. The generation happens locally on your device using your browser's built-in secure randomness. Nothing you create is sent to or stored on any server.
How long should my password be?
For most accounts, 16 characters or more with a mix of letters, numbers and symbols gives you strong protection. Longer is always better when a site allows it.
What does excluding look-alike characters do?
It removes easily confused characters such as O and 0, or l and 1, so the password is simpler to read and type without mistakes. This is handy when you have to enter it by hand.
Should I use a different password for every account?
Yes. Reusing passwords means one breach can unlock many accounts. Generate a unique password for each site and keep them in a password manager.
